I'm Baaaaaack......

So moving with small children (especially when you're a packrat) is well....just plain nuts...Seriously my worst idea ever...
My fingers go in these little holes right mom?

But now we are over the biggest hurdle and slowly settling in. And we love our new neighborhood, and have great new neighbors (bonus!). House pics when it's not embarrassingly messy and the computer decides to work again (argh).

Ok back to horses. I'm barely making it to the barn once to twice a week, so really it isn't a lot to say. I've turned into a bigger weenie from being out of practice. Just in time for winter, yay.

Why hello, strange lady
Then on a whim while hacking with a few barnmates I tried a friend's saddle...

I could almost believe that I really don't want to jump anymore because I totally loved the dressage saddle. Holy easy two-point. I felt so balanced, and it's not even a great fit of a saddle for me. Holly was a bit confused but I liked how connected I felt with her....
But then I watch others jump, and I think well... When I got past the nausea and heart palpitations, it was kinda fun.... Kinda....

So despite my trainer's opinion that I'll be back to jumping soon, I'm on indefinite leave from jumping. Winter craziness sounds like enough to handle right now.

  1. Good luck settling in at the new house! Cool to also feel so at home in a dressage saddle - it felt so alien to me the first time haha!

    1. Thanks. I think maybe it feels familiar because it puts you more into a western position, which is how I used to ride growing up.

  2. Squee new house funzies and getting to know the neighbours and neighbourhood. Cannot wait to hear all about it and know only too well how such life changes can seriously impact on poneh-time.
Happens me too, there are days when I just don't get to the barn or when I do I don't have any energy or will to ride. Way I see it the horses don't care for working on circles and are happy so long as they get fed, love that they are pretty uncomplicated creatures for the most part.
*hugs* and sending you best wishes for the new house i hope the transition is smooth and that you enjoy spending time with and/or on Holly. Just remember life is for living and having fun. Do what you want to do and what works for you and your family, smile and enjoy the ride whatever shape or form that takes ☺

  4. Oof - lots of stuff. Who cares if you never jump again?! It's about the journey and loving what you're learning and working on, right? Also - moving sucks. I'm in the middle of it and it's just me and my dog so... not nearly that much stuff. I can't imaging the headache of moving a family.

    1. I think moving is like childbirth for some reason both are horrible but after a couple years you get amnesia about how bad it was.

  5. Dressage is surprisingly fun! I have a lovely, comfy dressage saddle coming for sale in a couple months with your name on it. I think you should definitely give it a try! I actually have 2 for sale!
