Then and Now....

Just saying....
I really miss riding. It was my choice to stop early in my pregnancy, and I don't regret it, but dang it, some days I just get an itch to ride, and its hard to wait until summer...
I miss Western....
I miss English...
My eventual goal is to have my own horse, and be able to hack around western and take lessons in english. Riding in Hawaii made me remember how well my butt fits in a western saddle, how relaxing it feels. Andy even says it would be fun to have our own horses and trailer them to new places to ride someday. Man, I need to win the lotto :) Sigh, but for now, I will continue looking at horse ads and watching my friends ride and be a big girl and be patient. Soon enough I will be riding again and Bayley will have someone else to hang around with at the barn.

I even miss jumping Cap't Hippo...

No Longer Neglected... step one
Maybe because we used to have to oil all the saddles at LTS when it was too hot to ride, or maybe because its just really boring, but anyhow, I have a real deep dislike for cleaning saddles... So its no wonder that while my horseback riding was on hiatus I neglected what I had (out of sight, out of mind)...
My saddle:

I wish I could show just how dusty and stiff the leather is, but I think its clear the suede is pretty bad (not that my butt will care when I ride)
Post saddle soap: (still need to get into some of the tooling with a toothbrush)

And yes, I'm cleaning my saddle in my living room, its cold in the garage and we loaned our space heaters out so no way am I sitting in the garage on this foggy January day.
Next comes the oiling and reconditioning, now I just need to go the store... Ah winter projects...

CopyKat
Ok, so I liked the way Karley broke off her horse blogging into its own entity. My main blog (Kat + Andy vol.2) should really be about Andy and I, and our family, not just me and my horsey obsessions. So this will be my horse blog, probably boring for the winter season, since I don't think I will end up getting a horse right away, although I do want one badly, I have other priorities that must come first...
Anywhoo, I can at least post up Windmill Ranch photos, with everyone else's horses, I am long used to living vicariously through others, why stop now :)
