Happy Dance

I'm back in the saddle finally! So doc may have said wait til 6 wks post c-sect, but I wanted to ride at 4, so getting on at 5 wks is a good compromise right? ;)

Rode Thursday and Saturday (no pics from Sat since hubby had fussy baby issues) but trainer snapped a few Thurs. Overall love being back. So much to remember. Again.

Thursday WS rode her first doing some changes etc. She's been jumped a bunch in the last week in prep for show next weekend so despite rather sloppy footing and a bazillion gnats she was good.

Then much to Holly's dismay, I hopped aboard and did some sloppy WTC. Was supposed to only W/T but somehow trainer had me attempting two point and cantering within a few laps.

I'm totally getting why people like having a groom, the WS has been doing some serious loving and grooming on my pony, and she is shed out and shiny, with no elbow grease from me.

Still bunches to do to get Holly ready for the show next week ($$$) and although I wish I was spending the money for me to ride her o/f she's going to look way better with J, WS of impeccable eq.

Creature of grace and beauty

Um, ya or not...

Yes, this majestic beast has been in fine form this week with a few extra days off because WS has been busy and I'm still not cleared for riding.

Someone decided they didn't want to use the bitting harness any longer and amongst a great show of little bucks lost her balance and wiped out.

yup, broke in two places, in Case there was hopes of rigging it for further abuse use. I take the blame, I should have given her more warm up, but let my tight schedule overpower my common sense. Sigh.

Next week hopefully I will ease back into riding, and WS will do some big jump schooling in prep for upcoming show.

I leave you with pics if our horrible California weather.

What's in a Name?

So apparently I'm now one of those owners that sends their horse to a show to be ridden by someone else. While I have mixed feelings, hubby is oddly ok with it.

Our only show so far
It's a relatively local B/C show, scheduled for 4 weeks from now. Which means at best I'll have been back in the saddle lightly for 2 weeks. (Hubby not so ok with me riding again so early, we will see). I may do a long stirrup w/t class if I'm feeling up to it.

Which means the WS (who has eq I will never obtain) will jump her in the 2'6"- 2'9" division. Its a good height for her since she schools well there but is still working on her 3' game. Eventually miss Holly will prob get sold for a large pony me and kiddos can ride, so show miles are kinda important.

Which leads me to my big question: Should I show Holly under her registered name (which I dislike) or change it now when I register her with USEF etc.

Her name is Homegrown Art.
This makes me feel like I'm riding some  backyard pony. Problem is im indecisive and apparently unimaginative and can't think of better...

IDEAS?!
My only contender is Insatiable Flirt
I'd love to keep the Art, but can't really figure it out.
Talk Dirty To Me, is what I keep joking with trainer I'm going to call her.

So really, ideas?

Its a Girl!...

I swear I was so paranoid that after getting all this girly stuff, she was going to pop out a boy...

So obviously been kinda MIA, but spent the last week of pregnancy fanatically nesting (and failing) and then, ya know,  had a baby, so computer time hasn't been easy to find.

But here is my new little one, Lily:

I've never been a girly girl, but its kinda fun to dress her up.

Life with a newborn is hard, add in a toddler, rough and tumble boy, and its a brave new world. Plus a jealous Aussie, and a horse who probably doesn't even think I'm her owner anymore and I'm bushed.

Why did you bring another one home?!

Lady, my foods back there!
Luckily I have a husband who has stepped up to the plate and been nothing but supportive and amazing.

Hopefully I'll make it this week to see my big Princess, Holly, and be back to riding at least lightly in a few weeks.

TOABH: Sugar Momma

Sugar Momma.
Let's continue pretending that horse poop magically transforms into money instead of the other way. So money doesn't matter. If you could buy anything for your horse, what would you buy?

Lol, homegirl would need a lot to be a spoiled, kept pony. The only luxury she gets is stall (finally) with paddock, and she doesn't view it as an upgrade.

Sigh. I'm so far from this, I don't even know all the pretty things to dream for. Well ,we'd start with a better barn. Which would mean buying own property, or current property and fixing it so there arent't things like extension cords running to the hot-wired paddocks.

Princess would be in her own double wide stall/ paddock, with daily turnout, regular massage, chiropractor, and full training.

She would be in a custom saddle, prob still CWD, but there would be a slew of saddle reps before purchase, and monogrammed Ogilvy's in all the pretty colors because I'm indecisive. And of course, a clean show only version of all her tack.

Also nice open front boots. Like Eskadron's would be her slumming it in pasture boots (not her current cheapo Dovers). Or her no-name jump boots for that matter. Also lots of polos. In many, annoy crap out of trainer colors ;)

She'd be clipped (because with turnout and full training she'd never be crazy right?) and would have all the pretty, expensive, blankets to keep princess happy and looking sharp ;) All monogrammed of course.

And because sometimes you need to go places, one of these would totally be necessary... With a hired driver.
